Mocha Pro 2026.5 needs macOS Monterey 12.7.6 or later, Windows 10 or 11, or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or 9 or a compatible distribution, plus at least 16 GB of RAM, a fast SSD, a 1920×1080 display and a working network adapter. The machine learning tools need Apple silicon on a Mac, or an NVIDIA GPU from the Pascal generation on (or an AMD Radeon Pro with 8 GB of VRAM on Windows). Without one they run on the CPU, much more slowly.

Requirements by operating system

The table condenses the vendor's published Mocha Pro system requirements for the current release. The disk line is the same on every platform: a high speed disk array or NVMe SSD.

The GPU rule that matters most

Planar tracking itself runs on almost any modern workstation. The tools that push the hardware are the machine learning ones: Object Brush, Matte Assist ML, Matte Refine ML, Face Detection and the new Point Track ML. On a Mac they need Apple silicon. On Windows they need an NVIDIA card with compute capability 6.0 or above, meaning Pascal (GeForce GTX 10 series) or newer, or an AMD Radeon Pro with at least 8 GB of VRAM. On Linux only NVIDIA is listed.

If no suitable GPU is present the ML tools still run on the CPU, but the vendor warns that performance drops sharply. An Intel Mac with an AMD GPU can run the rest of the program but falls into that CPU path for ML work. The Mocha Pro review explains which features depend on ML and which do not.

Windows ARM and Apple silicon

Version 2026.5 adds Windows ARM support for the Adobe plugin and the standalone app. The OFX and Avid builds are not listed as ARM ready, so check your host before relying on an ARM laptop. Apple silicon has been supported natively since the 2022 releases.

Supported plugin hosts

The vendor lists these hosts. Exact supported versions are on its host compatibility table, which changes with each host release.

  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Avid Media Composer
  • Autodesk Flame (OFX)
  • Boris FX Silhouette (OFX)
  • Foundry Nuke (OFX)
  • Blackmagic Fusion (OFX)
  • Vegas Pro (OFX)
  • SGO Mistika (OFX)

The standalone app runs on all three operating systems without a host. The After Effects tracking walkthrough shows the plugin in the most common host.

Why a network adapter is required

Every platform lists an enabled Wi Fi or Ethernet adapter as a requirement. Licences are bound to a Machine ID, which is the adapter's MAC address. A workstation with its network hardware disabled for security will need that adapter enabled, or a floating licence arranged through sales.

Frequently asked questions

How much RAM does Mocha Pro need?

The vendor lists 16 GB or more on macOS, Windows and Linux. Large ML and 3D solve jobs on high resolution footage will benefit from more.

Does Mocha Pro run on Apple silicon?

Yes. Apple silicon Macs are supported natively, and the machine learning tools require Apple silicon on macOS along with Monterey or later.

Which GPU do I need for the AI tools?

On Windows, an NVIDIA GPU with compute capability 6.0 or above (Pascal or newer) or an AMD Radeon Pro with at least 8 GB of VRAM. On Linux only NVIDIA is listed. Without one, the tools fall back to the CPU and run much slower.

Does Mocha Pro run on Windows ARM?

Since version 2026.5 the Adobe plugin and the standalone app support Windows ARM. Other plugin builds are not listed as ARM compatible.

Which Linux distributions are supported?

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9, and compatible distributions such as Rocky Linux and Alma Linux 8 and 9, on x86_64.
